I applied for state disability last month as I was having a baby. Since then I have not heard anything back from EDD outside of a “notice of computation” and that was well over 5 weeks ago; no notice of pay, no denial, nothing. My claim is under “active claims” and not “pending claims”. I have had no luck calling EDD and very lost at this point as my “pregnancy disability leave window” is pretty much halfway done. Is it still worth calling? Should I just file for paid Family leave? Help.

EDD has recently changed some regulations. EDD requires all physicians to verify their ID through ID.me due to over 345K fraud SDI claims. Ask your doctor to file his own part B form via online with ID Verification. The new change of regulations caused all of SDI claims be delayed.

Yes that and they also need to verify that the recipient is also real. In my case, it looks like it’s just me and not my MD

I called them yesterday using Claimyr and got thru. They told me they had just sent out a form to me (usps) to verify i was really me. I believe the hold up really has to do with the recent EDD fraud bust. I read an article yesterday that stated a lot of disability and unemployment pays and claims we’re placed on hold as of 12/21/21 due to fraud concerns.
