ESD requesting proof of 'available and able to work' since November - what counts as proof?
Just checked my eServices and there's a notice saying I need to provide proof that I've been 'available and able to work' since I filed in November. I'm totally freaking out! I've been doing my 3 job search activities every week and documenting them, but is that enough??? What else counts as 'proof'? I've applied to like 50+ jobs since November with zero interviews. I'm completely broke and can't afford to lose benefits. Has anyone dealt with this type of verification request before? What did you send in that actually satisfied ESD?

I had to provide this last year. The job search log is definitely important, but also include any emails showing job application confirmations or rejection letters. ESD wants to see you're actively looking AND that you don't have any limitations preventing you from accepting work (like transportation issues, childcare problems, etc). In my response, I wrote a short statement explaining I had reliable transportation, no scheduling restrictions, and was willing to accept suitable work immediately if offered.

omg these verification requests are so stressful. i got one back in december. sent in my job search logs and still got denied for 2 weeks bc they said i didnt provide enough proof. make sure u read the notice SUPER carefully!!

Had the same issue. Send ALL your job search logs with application confirmations. Also include proof you didn't turn down any work offers. They're looking for reasons to deny you.

•This isn't entirely accurate. ESD is verifying eligibility requirements, not looking for reasons to deny claims. They need to confirm you meet the "able and available" requirement which means you can work, are actively seeking work, and don't have restrictions that would prevent you from accepting suitable employment. It's a standard verification process.

I've gone through this verification process twice. Here's what you should include: 1. ALL your weekly job search logs with as much detail as possible 2. Email confirmations from job applications (even automated ones) 3. Any correspondence with potential employers 4. A written statement declaring you: - Have reliable transportation - Have no health restrictions preventing work - Have no childcare/family care restrictions - Are available to work all days/shifts appropriate for your field - Have not refused any job offers If you have anything that shows you've attended interviews (even if you didn't get the job), include that too. Also include any WorkSource appointments or job fairs you attended. The key is demonstrating you've been BOTH able (physically/mentally capable) AND available (no restrictions preventing you from accepting work) throughout the claim period.

this happened to my nephew last month...such a pain! he tried calling ESD for like 3 days straight to ask questions but never got through. ended up just sending whatever he had and crossed his fingers lol

•I had the same problem trying to reach ESD! Finally used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me through to an agent in about 20 minutes instead of spending days calling. Thanks everyone for the advice! I'm putting together my documents today. One more question - should I explain the gaps in my job search if there were weeks where I couldn't find 3 activities to do? I had two weeks in December where I only had 2 activities because literally nothing was hiring around the holidays...

One important thing that hasn't been mentioned: if you participated in any skills development or training related to your job search, include documentation of that as well. This includes online courses, certifications, or workshops that improve your employability. ESD considers these as evidence you're preparing yourself for suitable work opportunities. Also, if you had any circumstances that temporarily limited your availability (like a brief illness), it's better to disclose this with documentation rather than have ESD discover it later. You're allowed brief periods of unavailability without losing benefits as long as you report them properly.
