If you ever need to talk to Washington ESD about payment delays or other issues, I've had good luck with that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier. Way better than trying to get through the regular phone lines.
The job search requirements aren't too bad if you stay organized. You need to make 3 job contacts per week and keep track of them. WorkSource has tools to help manage this. Just don't wait until the last minute to do your job searches each week.
Thanks everyone for all this info! Feeling much more confident about filing now. Going to gather my documents tonight and file this weekend. Really appreciate all the detailed responses and tips about the process.
And remember, if you need to talk to Washington ESD later, Claimyr is always an option to avoid the phone hassles.
Just remember that even if you qualify for unemployment, the amount you get depends on your wages during the base period. So if you only worked a few months, your weekly benefit amount might be pretty low.

This whole thread has been super helpful. I was worried I only had a few months to find work but understanding the 26 weeks within a year makes me feel less panicked about timing.

Quick question - if my benefit year expires but I still have unused weeks, can I file a new claim right away?

•Got it, so the unused weeks from the old year don't carry over to a new claim?
