Has anyone used that Claimyr service that was mentioned earlier? I'm curious if it actually works for getting through to Washington ESD.
This thread has been really helpful! I didn't realize how the base period worked. Thanks everyone for explaining it clearly.
Make sure you understand the difference between your initial claim and weekly claims. The initial claim starts your benefit year, but you have to file weekly claims every week to actually receive payments. Don't mix those up!
One last tip - if you have any issues with the website or your application gets stuck, don't just sit there waiting. Try to contact ESD or use one of those services like Claimyr to get help. Time is money when you're unemployed!
Bottom line - at $1K/week you're looking at roughly $400-450 per week in unemployment benefits, maybe up to $500 depending on your exact wage history. You'll qualify easily with 2 years of steady work. Just be prepared for bureaucracy and potential delays, but most people do get their benefits eventually.
One last tip - if you do file and have any issues, there's also that Claimyr service people mentioned. I used them when my weekly claims weren't processing right and they got me through to someone who fixed it same day. Beats the alternative of waiting weeks for a callback that might never come.
For what it's worth, I got my first payment about 3 weeks after filing my initial claim. That included the one week waiting period plus processing time. Once you're in the system payments come pretty regularly.
Good luck with your claim! The most important things are filing everything on time, being completely honest in your responses, and staying persistent if you run into any issues. The system works but you have to stay on top of it.
And remember Claimyr is there if you need to actually talk to someone at Washington ESD and can't get through the regular way.

Bottom line - most disqualifications come from: voluntary quit without good cause, misconduct, refusing suitable work, not meeting work search requirements, not being able/available to work, or fraud. Stay honest and follow the rules and you should be fine.

Remember that even if you're disqualified initially, circumstances can change. If you were disqualified for not being available but your situation changes, you can often reopen your claim.

•That's good to know. I thought once you were disqualified that was it.

•Not necessarily. The key is staying in communication with Washington ESD and reporting any changes in your circumstances.
