Confused about WEP repeal's impact on my Social Security application - automatic adjustment or do I need to do something?

I'm planning to file for Social Security retirement benefits next month and I'm confused about the WEP (Windfall Elimination Provision) repeal. I worked for a state government agency for 18 years where I didn't pay into Social Security, but I also have 22 years of substantial earnings in the private sector.
