PA UC direct deposit transaction numbers - do 115 prefixes indicate DD or paper check?
I'm really confused about my payment method. My PA UC payment was released on Thursday (says 'payment issued' on the portal), but it still hasn't hit my bank account today (Monday). When I check the transaction details, the number starts with '115'. Does anyone know if transaction numbers starting with 115 mean it's going through direct deposit or if they sent a paper check instead? I've always had direct deposit set up but I'm wondering if something got messed up with my last claim. Don't want to wait around for DD if they actually mailed a check!

From my experience, transaction numbers starting with 115 are usually direct deposit transactions. BUT, if this is your first payment on a new claim or after a break in filing, sometimes they'll send the first payment as a paper check regardless of your DD setup. Have you received UC payments via direct deposit before this?

•Thanks for responding! Yes, I've gotten direct deposit before, but this is my first payment after my benefit year ended and I had to open a new claim. Maybe that's why it's taking longer? The portal definitely shows my bank info is still correct though.

the numbers don't matter its all about what ur payment preference is set to in the system. just call them and ask!!!

•I've been trying to call since Friday but keep getting busy signals or disconnected. It's so frustrating!

Transaction prefix 115 is definitely direct deposit. The paper checks usually have transaction numbers starting with 215 or 315 from what I've seen. There could be a delay with your bank processing the payment, especially if it was released late Thursday. Some banks don't process ACH transfers over the weekend, so you might see it appear tomorrow. Also, after a benefit year transition, there can sometimes be a 1-2 day additional processing delay with the first payment. I'd wait until end of day tomorrow before really worrying.

•This is super helpful information, thank you! I'll try to be patient until tomorrow then. Do you know if there's a way to check the exact status of the payment beyond just 'payment issued'?

•Unfortunately, once it shows 'payment issued,' that's as detailed as the PA UC portal gets. The system has done its part by sending the payment instruction to Treasury. At that point, it's between Treasury and your bank. If it doesn't appear by Wednesday, then you might want to start investigating more actively.

My transactsion numbers always start with 115 and I get DD every time! But sometimes it takes 3-4 business days to hit my account even though the portal says payment issued. Banks r so slow sometimes lol

•That's reassuring to hear! I was just getting worried because previous payments usually hit my account within 1-2 days after showing as issued.

I had a similar issue last month where my direct deposit was delayed by almost a week after it said 'payment issued.' I called DOZENS of times and kept hitting busy signals. I finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an actual PA UC agent. They have this service that calls repeatedly for you and connects you once they get through. They have a demo video at https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 showing how it works. The agent told me there was a holding period on my payment because my new benefit year triggered a routine review. Might be worth checking if you're in the same boat.

•i don't think thats the problem. when u start a new benefit year theres sometimes a delay with the first payment. happened to me in january and i just had to wait it out, showed up 5 days later than normal. if OPs transaction # is 115 then its definitely direct deposit

•Thanks for the suggestion. If it doesn't show up by tomorrow afternoon I might try that service to get some answers. This waiting game is making me anxious since I have bills due.

THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS A MESS!!! I've had payments that said they were direct deposit but then got a check in the mail TWO WEEKS LATER. And other times they say check but it comes as direct deposit! The PA UC system is completely BROKEN and nobody there knows what they're doing. I wouldn't trust ANY information from their website or the transaction numbers. CALL THEM OVER AND OVER until you get through!!!

•Yikes, that's concerning! I really hope I don't have to wait two weeks. I specifically set up direct deposit to avoid mail delays.

•While there can definitely be frustrating glitches with the system, I've generally found the transaction numbers to be reliable indicators. If your portal shows direct deposit is set up and the transaction number starts with 115, it's almost certainly just a timing issue with the banks or a brief hold because of the new benefit year.

UPDATE: My payment just hit my bank account this morning! Looks like it was just a delay because of the new benefit year like some of you suggested. The transaction number starting with 115 was indeed for direct deposit. Thanks everyone for your help!
