How long after quitting can I file for New York Unemployment?
I left my job and havent filed for unemployment yet. Been a few weeks since I quit. Not sure if I waited too long to file my claim. Can someone tell me if theres a deadline to apply for benefits after leaving a job? Really need to know if I missed my window to file.

You can file anytime but just know that quitting usually means no benefits unless you had good cause. The system will probably deny you automatically and youll need to appeal and prove you had a valid reason to quit.

Hey if you need to speak with an agent about your claim use claimyr.com - they'll call and wait on hold then connect you when someone picks up. Costs $20 but saved me hours of trying to get through. Here's a video about how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Bro ur supposed to file immediately after separation from work. The longer u wait the more sus it looks to them. But u can still file now, just explain the delay in your application

Let me give you the full rundown on this situation. I worked as an employment counselor and here's what you need to know: First, there's no strict deadline for filing, but earlier is always better. The system looks at your base period (previous 5 quarters) to calculate benefits. Waiting too long could affect your benefit amount. For voluntary quits, you'll need to prove good cause. Valid reasons include: - Unsafe working conditions - Discrimination or harassment - Medical reasons with documentation - Significant changes to work conditions Document everything! Save emails, texts, write down incidents with dates. You'll need this for the inevitable hearing. Quickest way to get answers is through claimyr.com - they'll connect you with an agent who can review your specific case. Worth the $20 to get solid answers. File your claim online first, then call to discuss your situation. The system will likely auto-deny you, but don't panic - that's normal for quit cases. Appeal within 30 days.

Just wondering - what was your reason for quitting? That matters more than when you file tbh
