Fraud alert on NY unemployment account after 7 weeks of no payment - How to fix?

Just got told there's fraud on my account after waiting 7 weeks with no payment. Has anyone else dealt with this? How did you fix it and get your payments released? I'm freaking out and could really use some advice.

I found a way to solve unemployment fraud payment delays, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HaxsuQjb1ro

Ugh, that sucks! I had the same thing happen to me last month. It's such a pain to deal with. Have you tried calling them? It took me forever to get through, but once I did, they were able to clear it up pretty quick.

I've been trying to call for days but can't get through. How long did it take you to reach someone?

It took me like 3 days of non-stop calling. I basically just kept redialing over and over. It's a total nightmare 😫

Pro tip: try calling right when they open. That's how I finally got through!

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work? How long did you have to wait?

Yeah, it actually does work! I was skeptical at first too. I waited about 2 hours, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music. They just called me when an agent was ready.

$20? That's kinda steep for something that should be free. The system is so broken 🙄

I get it, but for me it was worth it. I spent way more than $20 worth of time trying to call myself. Sometimes you gotta spend money to make money, ya know? 🤷‍♂️

This happened to me too! Turns out someone had tried to file a claim using my info. I had to submit a bunch of documents to prove my identity. It took about 3 weeks to get sorted, but I eventually got all my back pay.

The ny unemployment system is such a joke. They're so quick to label everything as fraud but take forever to actually help people. It's like they want us to suffer 🤬

Preach! 🙌 It's like they forget we're real people with bills to pay.

Here's what you need to do to resolve the fraud issue and get your payments released: 1. Gather all your identity documents (driver's license, social security card, birth certificate, etc.) 2. Take clear photos or scans of these documents 3. Write a brief statement explaining your situation and affirming your identity 4. Try to reach NY unemployment by phone (use claimyr.com if you're having trouble getting through) 5. Once you reach an agent, explain the situation and ask about their secure document upload process 6. Follow their instructions to submit your documents and statement 7. Keep calling every few days to check on the status 8. Be patient but persistent It can take 2-4 weeks to resolve, but don't give up! If you're having trouble reaching someone, seriously consider using claimyr.com. It saved me hours of frustration. Good luck!

This is solid advice. I'd add that keeping a log of all your calls and interactions can be helpful too.

Most offices are still closed for in-person stuff, at least in my area. But worth checking!

Oof, 7 weeks with no payment? I'm in the same boat, friend. This system is held together with duct tape and prayers 😩

WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T GIVE UP!!! Keep calling, keep pushing. It sucks but you gotta be your own advocate in this mess.

Has anyone tried contacting their state representative about these issues? I've heard sometimes they can help push things along.

I did this! It actually helped a lot. My case got escalated and resolved within a week after months of nothing.

How do you even find out who your state rep is? lol I'm clueless about this stuff

Just google '[your city] state representative'. Most have contact forms on their websites. Easy peasy!
