Filed in February, certified weekly, still no payment from NY Unemployment. What am I missing?
I filed for unemployment back in February and got my monetary determination. I've verified my ID and filled out all the questionnaires they sent. I've been certifying every single week without fail. But here's the thing - I haven't received a single penny yet. It's been months now and I'm starting to worry. Am I missing something here? Has anyone else experienced this kind of delay? Any advice would be appreciated because I'm running out of options.

Ugh, welcome to the club š NY unemployment is a total mess rn. I filed in January and didn't see a dime until April. Keep certifying and try calling them (good luck with that tho lol). Hang in there!

Thanks for the support. Did you do anything special to finally get your payments? Or did it just magically start working one day?

Honestly, it was like pulling teeth. I called like a maniac for weeks. Finally got through and they said there was a 'flag' on my account. Once they removed it, money started flowing. Keep at it!

Hey guys, I found a method to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video for more info: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Sounds too good to be true. How does it actually work? Is it legit?

I get the skepticism, but it's legit. It's basically an auto-dialer that navigates the phone tree for you. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

Does it work for other states or just NY?

It works for a bunch of states, not just NY. Check their website (claimyr.com) for the full list. Seriously, it's a game-changer if you're stuck.

Have you checked your spam folder? Sometimes the emails from NYSDOL end up there. Also, log into your account and check for any outstanding tasks or messages. Sometimes they need additional info but don't make it obvious š

Bruh, I feel you. The system is BROKEN š¤ I had to reach out to my local assemblyman to get things moving. Might be worth a shot if you're desperate.

Wow, I didn't even think about contacting a rep. How long did it take for them to help you out?

It took about 2 weeks, but they got it sorted. Just google your local assemblyman and shoot their office an email. They deal with this stuff all the time.

Listen up, because I've been through this rodeo before. Here's what you need to do: ā¢ Double-check your claim status online. Sometimes there's a hidden issue that's not obvious. ā¢ Make sure you're answering the weekly certification questions correctly. One wrong answer can hold up everything. ā¢ Call, call, and call again. I know it's a pain, but persistence pays off. Try using claimyr.com if you're tired of waiting on hold. ā¢ Check your mail religiously. Sometimes they send important stuff via snail mail (I know, it's 2023, right? š) ā¢ If all else fails, contact your local Department of Labor office directly. They can sometimes see things the phone reps can't. Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Don't give up! šŖ

Great advice! I'd add: document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every email. It might come in handy later.

I hate to be that guy, but are you sure you're eligible? Sometimes they approve you initially but then find an issue later. Happened to my cousin. Might want to double-check the requirements.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm eligible. My employer even confirmed they submitted everything correctly. It's just... crickets from the unemployment office š

This might sound crazy, but have you tried faxing them? I know, I know, what year is it? But I swear, I faxed a letter explaining my situation and got a call back within a week. Sometimes old school works! š
