Transcript Code 570 - Do Transcripts Update More Than Once Daily or Wait for Next Cycle?
According to IRS Publication 1345 (Rev. 4-2024), transcript updates typically follow a weekly processing cycle. I recently checked my transcript and noticed code 570 (Additional Account Action Pending). I'm not entirely familiar with the US tax system as I'm filing from abroad for the first time, but I'm wondering - do transcripts update more than once per day? I currently see cycle code 05. Is it possible I could receive a direct deposit date (DDD) later today, or must I wait until next week's cycle? I'm a bit anxious as I need to plan my finances accordingly. Thank you for any guidance on this matter.

I... I'm afraid transcripts generally don't update multiple times per day. From what I understand, the IRS operates on a weekly cycle system, and code 570 usually means there's some kind of hold on your account that needs to be resolved. I wouldn't expect a DDD today if you just saw the 570 code appear. The cycle code 05 typically indicates your account updates on Thursdays, so you'd likely need to wait until at least next Thursday to see any movement.

•It might be worth clarifying that while the actual database may update more frequently, what we as taxpayers can see through the transcript system generally follows the weekly cycle pattern. In some cases, the underlying status might change, but the public-facing transcript wouldn't reflect that until the scheduled update time.

•Thanks for this info. Really needed to know about the Thursday updates for cycle 05. Been checking every hour hoping for a change!

Compared to state tax systems that might update multiple times daily, the IRS transcript system is much more rigid. I've seen this happen with dozens of clients - code 570 followed by 571 (resolved) and then 846 (refund issued) typically spans 1-2 weekly cycles. Unlike online banking that updates in real-time, the IRS batch processes on specific days. Your cycle 05 means Thursday updates, so I'd confidently say you need to wait until next Thursday at the earliest.

According to the IRS website (irs.gov/refunds), transcripts follow weekly processing cycles, and a 570 code often requires manual review. Have you tried calling the IRS to ask about your specific situation? I recently used https://claimyr.com when I had a similar issue and got through to an agent in about 15 minutes instead of waiting on hold for hours. They were able to tell me exactly what the 570 was for and when I could expect resolution. Might be worth checking their YouTube video: https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c

•Is this service really necessary? Seems like just another way to make money off people who are already stressed about their taxes. Can't you just keep calling the IRS yourself?

•I've had similar experiences in past tax seasons. Did the IRS agent tell you specifically what triggered the 570 code in your case? Was it something you could have avoided?

The IRS transcript system updates exactly once per weekly cycle for each account. With cycle code 05, your account processes on Thursdays. A 570 code typically indicates one of 3 things: identity verification needed (45% of cases), income verification (32% of cases), or math error correction (23% of cases). In precisely 87% of cases I've tracked, a 570 is resolved within 2 weekly cycles. You should see movement by Thursday, April 18th at the latest, but I can confidently say it won't update today regardless of what happens behind the scenes.

•I had a 570 code appear in February, and it took exactly 21 days before I saw a DDD. The IRS seems to be using some specific terminology in their internal systems that doesn't always translate well to what we see on transcripts. I'm still not sure what caused mine, but the refund amount did change slightly.

Have you considered what the 570 code actually means for your specific situation? Are there any other codes on your transcript that might provide additional context? In my experience, transcripts follow strict weekly update schedules based on your cycle code. With cycle 05, wouldn't it make sense that you'll need to wait until next Thursday? I believe the IRS processes accounts in batches, so even if they resolve whatever issue triggered your 570 today, you likely won't see that reflected until your next scheduled update day.

Oh my goodness, I remember the anxiety of waiting for updates with a 570 code! 😫 I checked my transcript literally every hour for days thinking it might update! It was so stressful waiting for that DDD to appear. Just want to warn you - even after you get past the 570 and get your DDD, there's usually a 3-5 day waiting period before the money actually hits your account. I'd strongly suggest planning your finances assuming you won't see the money for at least 2-3 weeks from now, just to be safe. The waiting is THE WORST part! ðŸ˜

•I experienced something similar last year. First, I got the 570 code. Then after about 10 days, it changed to 571 (resolved). Then I had to wait another 5 days for code 846 to appear with my DDD. After that, it took exactly 2 business days for the deposit to show in my account. Should I expect the same timeline this year, or has the process changed?

Last year I had the exact same situation! Got a 570 code on cycle 05 and drove myself crazy checking for updates. Here's what happened: The transcript only updated on Thursdays (cycle 05), and it took two weekly cycles to resolve. The first Thursday nothing changed, but the second Thursday I got a 571 (resolved) and 846 (refund issued) on the same day. My DDD was for the following Wednesday. So from seeing the 570 to getting money was exactly 13 days. The IRS agent I spoke with explained that even if they fix whatever triggered the 570 mid-week, the transcript won't show it until your designated cycle day.

As someone who's dealt with transcript codes before, I can confirm that transcripts absolutely do NOT update multiple times per day. The IRS processes accounts in weekly batches, and your cycle 05 means Thursday updates only. A 570 code typically indicates they need to verify something on your return - could be income matching, identity verification, or they caught an error that needs manual review. I've seen this process take anywhere from 1-3 weekly cycles to resolve. Since you're filing from abroad for the first time, it's quite possible they're just doing additional verification due to foreign address/income reporting. My advice? Stop checking daily (I know it's hard!) and plan to check again next Thursday. The anxiety is real, but checking hourly won't change anything unfortunately.

•This is really helpful context about filing from abroad! I'm in a similar situation as a first-time filer living overseas, and I was wondering if the foreign address might be what's triggering additional scrutiny. Did you have to provide any specific documentation when you filed internationally, or was it just the standard forms? I'm trying to understand if there's anything I should be prepared for when dealing with the IRS as an expat.

As someone who's been through this process multiple times, I can confirm that transcripts only update once per weekly cycle. Your cycle 05 means Thursday updates, so unfortunately you'll need to wait until next Thursday to see any changes. The 570 code is frustrating but common - it just means they need to manually review something on your return. Since you mentioned filing from abroad for the first time, that could definitely be a factor as the IRS often does additional verification for international filers. I'd recommend setting a reminder to check next Thursday rather than checking daily (trust me, I've been there!). In the meantime, you might want to gather any documentation related to your foreign income or address changes just in case they need additional verification. The waiting is tough, but the system is pretty predictable once you understand the weekly cycle pattern.
