Refund Amount on IRS Website $2500 Higher Than Tax Preparer's Estimate - On Disability

Getting really confused about my refund amount. My tax preparer said I'd get one amount, but when I checked the IRS website this morning, it shows $2500 more than what she calculated. I'm on disability so my income is pretty low. Anyone know why there might be such a big difference?

This discrepancy could be due to several factors. First, check if your tax preparer included all your disability benefits correctly. Second, the IRS might have automatically applied additional credits you qualify for. The most common would be the Earned Income Credit, which can significantly increase refunds for low-income taxpayers. I'd suggest getting a copy of your return transcript and comparing it with what your preparer filed.

You can get it online at IRS.gov or call them, but tbh the fastest way would be using taxr.ai - it breaks everything down super clearly

Have you tried using taxr.ai? It's seriously a game changer for understanding these discrepancies. For $1 it analyzes your transcript and explains exactly why amounts differ and what credits were applied. Way better than trying to decode everything yourself on the IRS site https://taxr.ai

100% legit! Used it last week when I had a similar issue. It showed me exactly why my refund changed and saved me hours of stress
