$20,130 Credit on 2023 Transcript with Amended Return Processing - 810 Freeze Gone, When Will $19,267 Refund Arrive?

Just checked my 2023 tax transcript and noticed some activity. I downloaded my Account Transcript from the IRS website today (10-20-2024) and I'm really trying to understand what's happening with my refund. The transcript shows my filing status as Single with 01 exemption. My adjusted gross income was $22,494.00 with taxable income of $8,644.00 and tax per return of $863.00. The return was processed on 04-08-2024, and the return due date or return received date shows 04-15-2024. What caught my attention is I'm seeing a 766 credit dated 04-15-2024 for -$20,130.00 and a 971 notice dated 06-05-2024 with the description "Amended tax return or claim forwarded for processing" with an amount of $0.00. The good news is I don't see the 810 freeze code anymore that was there before! My transcript shows I currently have an account balance of $19,267.00 with no accrued interest or penalties as of 07-22-2024. The transcript specifically states "Any minus sign shown below signifies a credit amount" and shows "Account balance plus accruals (this is not a payoff amount): $19,267.00" I also notice a 960 code from 06-05-2023 showing "Appointed representative" for $0.00, which I assume refers to my POWER OF ATTORNEY/TAX INFORMATION AUTHORIZATION (POA/TIA) ON FILE that's mentioned at the top of the transcript. The transcript has a tracking number of 106777325510 and shows it was requested and responded to on 10-20-2024. Does this mean my refund is finally moving forward? Been waiting since April! I'm particularly focused on the 766 credit of -$20,130.00 and that 971 code showing an amended return or claim forwarded for processing. The fact that the 810 freeze is gone seems promising, right? Just trying to understand what all these recent transcript updates mean for my refund status!

The transcript shows several positive developments in your tax situation. The $20,130 credit (code 766) posted on 04-15-2024 represents a significant refund amount being processed. This credit, combined with your reported tax liability of $863 on a taxable income of $8,644, indicates you likely qualified for refundable tax credits that exceeded your tax obligation. Your account balance of $19,267 with no accrued interest or penalties (as of 07-22-2024) suggests most of the credit is being processed for refund. The 971 notice dated 06-05-2024 confirms an amended return or claim is being processed, and the removal of the previous 810 freeze code indicates the review process is moving forward. The transcript also shows you filed as Single with one exemption, with an adjusted gross income of $22,494. There's a 960 code from 06-05-2023 indicating you have an appointed representative handling your tax matters. The return was processed on 04-08-2024, just before the filing deadline. These codes and amounts, particularly the removal of the freeze code and the presence of the 766 credit, strongly suggest your refund is in the final stages of processing. The lack of any penalties or interest charges is also a positive indicator that everything is proceeding normally.

Usually 1-2 weeks after the 810 drops off, but every case is different. Keep an eye on your WMR tool.

Hey, you should check out taxr.ai - it's this new tool that analyzes transcripts and tells you exactly what's happening with your refund. Saved me hours of googling and guessing. It's only $1 and totally worth it. https://taxr.ai

100% legit! They use bank-level security and don't store your data. Been using it weekly to track my refund progress

Its just a general notice code. Could be anything from confirmation of changes to your return to info about processing delays
