Anyone know if gig work (like Uber or DoorDash) affects unemployment eligibility? I've been doing some deliveries to make ends meet while job hunting.
Ah ok, that makes sense. So I should still apply even tho I'm doing some gig work? And just report the earnings each week?
Just went through this process myself! A few things to add that might help: For severance pay - the key thing is HOW it's structured. If your employer calls it "severance in lieu of notice," it might be treated differently than regular severance. Also, some states have a "severance deduction period" where they calculate how many weeks your lump sum would cover at your regular salary, and you can't claim benefits during that time. One thing that caught me off guard: if you worked in multiple states during your base period, you might need to file an interstate claim. It gets complicated but can sometimes work in your favor if one state has higher benefit rates. Also, keep ALL your documentation - pay stubs, termination letter, severance agreement, everything. The system might seem automated but there's a good chance you'll need to provide proof of your earnings at some point. Good luck with your claim! The process is frustrating but hang in there 💪

I'm going through this exact same thing right now! Been stuck for almost a month. Reading through everyone's suggestions here - definitely going to try the PDF format and off-peak hours approach. It's so frustrating that we have to jump through all these hoops just to get the benefits we're entitled to. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences, it helps to know I'm not alone in this struggle!

•You're definitely not alone! I'm dealing with the same mess right now. It's crazy how broken this system is - like they designed it to make us give up. I'm going to try the PDF and off-peak hours trick too. Maybe we should all keep each other updated on what works? This thread has been more helpful than any official help page I've found!

Just wanted to add another data point - I finally got through the identity verification process last week after being stuck for about 5 weeks! What seemed to make the difference for me was taking super high-resolution photos with good lighting (I actually went outside during midday for natural light) and making sure there was no glare or shadows on the documents. I also called the verification hotline right at 8 AM when they opened and got through after about 45 minutes on hold. The rep was actually really helpful and walked me through exactly what they needed to see in the photos. Don't lose hope - it's a terrible system but persistence does pay off eventually!

•This is super helpful! I've been struggling with the photo quality issue - mine keep coming out blurry or with shadows. The natural lighting tip is genius, I never thought of going outside to take the photos. And 8 AM calling strategy sounds promising too. Did they tell you specifically what resolution they recommend for the photos? I'm willing to try anything at this point!
