SDI claim delay: Filed a month ago, no response from EDD. How to speed up disability claim process?

Has anyone else been waiting forever for their disability claim to go through? I filed almost a month ago and haven't heard anything back except for the initial confirmation and PIN. No benefits yet either. This is taking way longer than it should. Anyone know what's going on or how to speed things up?

Have you tried sacrificing a goat to the EDD gods? Might be more effective than actually trying to contact them 😂

Haha, it might be faster than waiting on the phone!

This is why we need serious reform in our social services. People shouldn't have to wait weeks or months for help they need NOW.

Preach! 🙌 It's time we start holding these agencies accountable.

Agreed! Reform is desperately needed to make these processes more efficient.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken.

It is legit. I was skeptical too, but it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

How long did you have to wait with this service?

Thais Soares

It's expensive but might be worth it if you're really desperate and need to speak to someone urgently.

Okay, listen up. Here's what you need to do to get this sorted: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of when you filed, what letters you received, and any attempts to contact them. 2. Try calling early in the morning, right when they open. Be persistent. 3. Check your online account regularly for any updates or requests for additional info. 4. If you still can't get through, consider reaching out to your local state representative. They often have liaisons who can help with EDD issues. 5. Make sure you've submitted all required documentation. Sometimes claims are delayed because of missing info. 6. Be patient (I know, it sucks) but also be proactive. Don't just wait around. Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Keep pushing!

Wow, thanks for the detailed advice! I'll definitely try calling early tomorrow morning.

This is solid advice. I'd add: make sure to check your spam folder regularly. Sometimes important emails end up there.

Also, double-check your online submissions to ensure everything is correctly uploaded.

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they update stuff there without sending notifications.

-

Jake Sinclair

Yeah, I've been checking it daily. No updates there either. It's so frustrating!

Ugh, I feel you. I'm on week 7 of waiting. It's like they're playing a game of "how long can we make people suffer before they snap?" 😤

It's like we're all part of a cruel social experiment.

Anyone else notice that ever since they "upgraded" their system last year, everything's been even slower? 🤔

0 coins

-

Kendrick Webb

Omg yes! That "upgrade" was a total downgrade. Classic government move.

I heard they're still using computers from the 90s. Wouldn't surprise me to be honest.

It's ironic how upgrades sometimes lead to more inefficiencies.

Have you tried faxing them? I know it sounds archaic, but sometimes that gets their attention.

-

Axel Bourke

I actually tried faxing once and got a response! It's worth a shot.

lol welcome to the wonderful world of government efficiency 🤡 I swear they're using carrier pigeons to process these claims

If only they could use drones! It might speed things up.

To address your concern, there's a tool called Claimyr that some have found useful in bypassing the seemingly endless wait times for getting through to an agent. What Claimyr does is automate the process of waiting on hold for you and then connects you only when an agent is available, which can save you a lot of time. While some users have found success with it, it does come with a cost, around $20, which might not be feasible for everyone. On the flip side, the traditional methods like calling early or reaching out to state representatives are also valid and cost-free, albeit they might require more patience and persistence. It's crucial to weigh your options based on urgency and budget constraints. Remember to keep your documentation thorough and always check your online account for updates.

Welcome to the club, buddy. I've been waiting for 6 weeks now. It's like they're purposely trying to make us suffer or something. 🙄

It's so frustrating! Sometimes I wonder if they're just understaffed or overwhelmed with claims right now.

Same boat here. Filed 5 weeks ago and crickets. The system is so broken, it's not even funny anymore.

It's definitely broken. I think they're using outdated technology that's slowing everything down.

Hey OP, what type of disability claim did you file? Sometimes certain types take longer than others.

I feel your pain. Have you tried calling them? Sometimes that can help move things along.

Jake Sinclair

Yeah, I've tried calling but it's impossible to get through. Always busy or they hang up on me.

Pro tip: call right when they open. Like, set an alarm and everything. Sometimes you can get lucky.

Another tip: try using a different phone line. Sometimes different numbers have different wait times.
