Will resubmitting FAFSA in June affect my full Pell Grant eligibility?
My university financial aid office says they never received my FAFSA data even though my studentaid.gov account shows "processed successfully" status! So frustrating. I'm thinking about just making a small correction (maybe adding another school code) to force the system to reprocess and send my info again. But here's what I'm worried about - since it's already mid-June and the FAFSA deadline is coming up, will this mess up my Pell Grant? I qualified for the full $7,395, and I REALLY can't afford to lose any of that money. Has anyone had to resubmit their FAFSA this late in the cycle? Did it affect your aid amounts? Any advice would be so appreciated!

I had this exact problem with my community college last year!! The financial aid office kept saying they didnt have my FAFSA even tho it was processed. Making a correction worked for me but it took like 2 weeks to reprocess so be prepared to wait. I dont think it should affect your Pell eligibility as long as you already qualified but idk for sure

•Thanks for the quick reply! Two weeks?? That's so long... Did you have to keep calling the financial aid office to check if they got it, or did they notify you?

Making a correction to your FAFSA won't affect your Pell Grant eligibility. The $7,395 maximum is determined by your SAI (Student Aid Index), not by when you submit corrections. As long as your original FAFSA was submitted before the June 30 deadline, you're fine. However, before making corrections, have you tried these steps? 1. Ask your school's financial aid office to manually look up your FAFSA using your name and birthdate 2. Verify they're using the correct FSA ID associated with your application 3. Check if there might be a name or SSN mismatch between your FAFSA and school records These are common reasons schools "can't find" a processed FAFSA.

•This is so helpful, thank you! I feel better about the Pell Grant now. I did ask them to look it up manually, but they just told me to "check back in a few days" which isn't very reassuring. I'll specifically ask about the FSA ID and possible mismatches tomorrow.

•THIS!! My school was like "we never got your FAFSA" and then I went in person and suddenly they found it in 5 minutes. The system is so broken.

•Omg I didn't even think about that! I'll definitely double-check all my personal info to make sure everything matches exactly. Thanks for the suggestion!

If your FAFSA shows as processed successfully on studentaid.gov, the issue is almost certainly on your school's end, not with FAFSA itself. Adding a school code is a safe correction that won't affect your eligibility or require reprocessing your entire application. That said, calling Federal Student Aid directly might save you time. They can confirm exactly what's happening with your application and even initiate a school notification on their end. Unfortunately, reaching them can be frustrating - I spent hours on hold last month.

•I had similar issues reaching FSA when my FAFSA was stuck in verification. After multiple disconnected calls and hours on hold, I used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that held my place in line and called me back when an agent was available. Saved me literally hours of waiting. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/TbC8dZQWYNQ But honestly, I think your school's financial aid office should be able to handle this without you having to call FSA directly.

When I had this problem it was because I put my legal name on FAFSA (Katherine) but the school had me registered as Kate. Literally that small difference made my FAFSA invisible to them! Check ALL your info!

the whole fafsa system is BROKEN this year with all the changes they made. ive been waiting since FEBRUARY and still dont have my financial aid package. schools are blaming fafsa, fafsa is blaming schools. meanwhile we're all just struggling to figure out how to pay for college. its ridiculous and im so tired of it all

•It really is frustrating! I submitted mine back in January and thought everything was fine until now. The lack of communication between the systems is so stressful when we're trying to plan our finances for the year.

Just wanted to follow up - did you end up making the correction or did you get it resolved another way? I'm having a similar issue now with my university and getting worried

•Update: It turned out to be a name mismatch! My middle name was included on my FAFSA but not in the school system. The financial aid officer finally found it when I went in person (after 3 unhelpful phone calls). No need to resubmit anything! And my Pell Grant is safe.

Glad to hear you got it resolved! For anyone else with similar issues, here's what to check: 1. Name matches exactly (including middle names/initials) 2. SSN matches exactly (all 9 digits) 3. Date of birth matches exactly 4. School code was correctly entered (each school has a unique federal code) 5. Verification of your FAFSA wasn't required (you'd receive separate notification) Almost all "FAFSA not received" issues are data matching problems, not actual submission problems. Your SAI and Pell Grant eligibility remain the same regardless.
