How to print 2024-2025 FAFSA SAR after getting SAI - everything shows last year's report instead!
I'm having the weirdest issue with my daughter's FAFSA for 2024-2025. We finally got her application processed (took almost 4 weeks!) and received her SAI score, but now I can't figure out how to print her Student Aid Report. Every time I try to access it through her account, the system keeps defaulting to her 2023-2024 SAR, which she doesn't need anymore. I've clicked through every menu option I can find on studentaid.gov but somehow can't get to the current year's report. Has anyone else run into this problem? Is there a specific button or link I'm missing? She needs to submit this for a scholarship application by Friday, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

•Glad it's not just us, but sorry you're dealing with this too! I'll definitely update if I find a solution.

I had this exact problem last week. The trick is that you need to go to the "My Documents" section instead of trying through the main FAFSA page. Once you're in My Documents, you should see a filter option at the top. Change the year filter to 2024-2025, and then look for a document called "Student Aid Report" or sometimes "SAR." It's a bit hidden compared to previous years due to the new FAFSA system. Hope this helps!

Here's another way to try: Go to studentaid.gov main page > Click on 'Complete the FAFSA Form' > On next screen choose '2024-2025' > It will ask if you want to 'Start New' or 'Log In to Continue' > Choose Log In > After logging in you should see an option for 'View Student Aid Report (SAR)' in the left menu. If that doesn't work, there's also a 'Print SAR' button at the bottom of your FAFSA Confirmation page if you still have that open somewhere.

•Thank you for these detailed steps! I'll try this method if the Documents section doesn't work out.

omg the new fafsa is such a disaster. my daughter's application was stuck for 6 weeks and we couldn't even call anyone because the wait times were ridiculous. they totally messed up the whole system this year!

•The wait times are absolutely insane right now! I tried calling twice and gave up after being on hold for over an hour each time.

If neither of the methods mentioned above work, there's one more option: call the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1-800-4-FED-AID (1-800-433-3243). They can manually generate and email you a copy of the 2024-2025 SAR. The challenge right now is getting through due to extremely high call volumes. I recently discovered a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helped me get through to an agent after struggling for days. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/TbC8dZQWYNQ. It saved me hours of frustration when I needed to resolve a verification issue.

•Thank you! I'll try the online methods first, but it's good to know there's a backup option if those don't work. I've been avoiding calling because of the wait times, so that service might be helpful if I can't figure this out online.

UPDATE: I found it! The My Documents section worked, but I had to click through several screens. For anyone else having this problem: Log in > Click on the dropdown menu under your name > Select My Documents > Change year filter to 2024-2025 > Look for "FAFSA Processed Successfully" email > Click on it > Scroll down to find the link to the SAR. Thanks everyone for your help!

•Great! Glad you found it. The new FAFSA system has so many changes this year that even basic functions like printing the SAR are in different places than before.

Quick tip for anyone who needs their SAR for scholarship applications: Save it as a PDF once you find it! I learned this the hard way when my son needed to submit his for multiple scholarships, and the system was down for maintenance when the second deadline came around. The new FAFSA system seems to have more maintenance periods than the old one.

•That's excellent advice - I'm going to save multiple copies right now. Thank you!
