FAFSA application not showing up at one school while others received it - solutions?

I'm at my wit's end with this FAFSA nightmare! I submitted my application THREE weeks ago and confirmed it was processed successfully. My SAI score showed up and everything. When I called to check on my financial aid package at my top choice (State University), they said they never received my FAFSA information! But somehow ALL FOUR other schools I listed got it without any issues. I called Federal Student Aid and after 50 minutes on hold, they told me to just delete State University from my FAFSA and re-add them. That feels so risky - what if it messes up my whole application or resets my position in line? Has anyone dealt with this missing school problem before? Is there another solution besides delete and re-add? I'm seriously losing sleep over this.

This actually happens more than you'd think with the new FAFSA system. I work in a financial aid office, and we've seen several students with this exact issue this cycle. The delete and re-add method does work, but you should also check a couple things first: 1. Verify you used the correct school code for State University (some have multiple codes) 2. Check if State University requires the CSS Profile in addition to FAFSA 3. Log into your studentaid.gov account and confirm State University appears in your school list If all those look correct, then yes, you'll need to follow their advice to delete and re-add. Don't worry - this won't reset your application date or affect your SAI calculation. The school will receive your information within 3-5 business days after you make the change.

Thank you SO MUCH for explaining this! I double-checked and I definitely used the right school code (006678), and they don't require CSS Profile. State University does show up in my school list on studentaid.gov which is why this is so confusing to me! I guess I'll have to do the delete/re-add thing... just nervous it'll somehow affect my priority consideration since their priority deadline was March x.

OMG I had the EXACT same problem but with Eastern College! The delete/add thing worked for me but it took like 10 days for them to get it so do it ASAP! My friend said it happened to her too.

im having the same issue but with 2 schools missing. this fafsa system is garbage. they had 3 years to make it work right and it still broken. good luck.

0 coins

Ugh, 2 schools?? That's even worse! Have you tried calling the schools directly to see if they can manually pull your FAFSA info?

0 coins

yea they just said wait or do the delete thing. im gonna wait another week then try the delete thing. dont trust this system at all

I actually ran into this exact problem with my daughter's FAFSA last month. One of her schools (out of 5) wasn't receiving her information. After struggling with the regular FSA phone line for days, I discovered Claimyr (claimyr.com) which connected me to an actual FSA agent in about 8 minutes instead of hours. The agent was able to see that there was a processing error on their end for just that one school. They fixed it on their side and the school received her information within 48 hours. Might be worth trying before you delete anything. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/TbC8dZQWYNQ Just sharing what worked for us because I remember how stressful this was!

Wow, I've been on hold forever trying to get actual help! I'll check this out today - I'd much rather have them fix it properly than risk the delete/re-add method. Did they explain why it happened to just one school?

0 coins

They said something about a data transmission error that sometimes happens when schools have updated their systems but the FAFSA database hasn't synced properly. The agent put in some kind of manual override. Definitely better than the delete/re-add approach since there's no risk of messing up your existing application.

i think its the schools fault not FAFSA. my cousins boyfriend works in financial aid and says sometimes the schools have filters that block some applications by accident. did u call financial aid office at state university yet? maybe they need to look for it in there system.

0 coins

I did call State University first actually - they're the ones who told me they don't see my FAFSA in their system at all and suggested I contact FSA. I'll try calling them again though and specifically ask if they might have some kind of filter issue. Worth a shot, thanks!

Why is the new FAFSA so BROKEN??!!! I've had nothing but problems since trying to file in January! First the parent contributor issues, then the IRS verification errors, now schools not getting the applications properly... They had THREE YEARS to get this right and it's been a total disaster. I'm convinced they're intentionally making it difficult to reduce how many people successfully apply for aid. My daughter had two schools missing from her FAFSA transmission too. One school eventually got it after 3 weeks of waiting, but we had to do the delete/re-add thing for the other one. But then THAT created another problem where her SAI calculation was different for that school! Make sure you take screenshots of everything before you make any changes!!

0 coins

Wait, the SAI calculation changed after deleting and re-adding? That shouldn't happen since SAI is supposed to be consistent across all schools. Did you contact FSA about that discrepancy? That could potentially affect aid eligibility and is definitely something that needs to be addressed.

0 coins

Yes!! The SAI was $1,450 higher after the re-add! We've been fighting with FSA for weeks trying to get it fixed. They keep saying it's impossible but I have the screenshots to prove it happened. This whole system is broken beyond belief.

I think there might be some confusion about how FAFSA information is transmitted to schools. Your FAFSA doesn't automatically go to schools - they have to actively download your information from the federal database. Some schools download FAFSA data daily, others only weekly. Some larger universities have automated systems while smaller schools might do manual batch processing. Before assuming there's an error in the FAFSA system, consider: 1. When did you add State University to your FAFSA? If it was after your initial submission, it might be on a different processing timeline. 2. Has it been at least 10 business days? Some schools only process FAFSA data once every two weeks. 3. Is State University asking for additional verification documents that might be holding up their process? The delete/re-add method forces a new transmission signal that can resolve connection issues, but I'd recommend waiting at least 10 full business days before trying that approach.

0 coins

I added all 5 schools at the same time when I first submitted on March 2nd, so it's been well over 10 business days. And the other 4 schools have already packaged my aid and sent me offers! That's why this is so concerning - State University is my top choice and their priority deadline was March 15th. No verification documents have been requested. Something is definitely wrong with just this one school.

delete and re-add DOES work but the website is super glitchy when you do it. make sure ur using Chrome not Safari, I kept getting errors with Safari. Also, after you do it, wait like 3 days then call the school to confirm they got it. don't just assume it worked.

Thanks for the browser tip! I've been using Firefox so maybe that's part of the problem. I'll switch to Chrome when I try this.

Update: I checked with some colleagues, and there's currently a known issue with certain school codes not transmitting properly through the new FAFSA system. The Department of Education released guidance on this last week. The delete/re-add method is the official fix they're recommending, but when you do this: 1. Take screenshots of your current FAFSA summary page showing all schools listed 2. Take a screenshot of your current SAI calculation 3. Use Chrome or Edge browser (as others mentioned, Safari and Firefox have issues) 4. After re-adding, print to PDF your new confirmation page 5. Wait 3-5 business days, then contact the school to confirm receipt If after doing this State University still doesn't receive your information, ask them specifically if they're experiencing the "FAFSA transmission error code E-08213" which is the specific error affecting some schools now.

0 coins

This is INCREDIBLY helpful information! Thank you so much for researching this. I'll follow these exact steps and document everything carefully. Really appreciate you taking the time to share this specific error code too - at least now I know it's a recognized issue and not just me doing something wrong!

I'm a new parent going through this FAFSA process for the first time with my son, and this thread has been SO helpful! We're dealing with a similar issue where one of his schools (University of Denver) isn't showing his FAFSA while the other three received it fine. Reading through all your experiences, it sounds like this is unfortunately pretty common with the new system. I'm planning to try the Claimyr service that @Natasha Orlova mentioned first, since having them fix it on the backend sounds much safer than the delete/re-add method. If that doesn't work, I'll follow @CosmicCowboy's detailed steps with all the screenshots and documentation. @Paolo Longo - did you end up trying any of these solutions yet? Would love to hear how it worked out for you since we're in almost the exact same situation! This whole process is so much more stressful than I expected.

0 coins

Welcome to the FAFSA nightmare club! 😅 I haven't tried the solutions yet but I'm planning to start with the Claimyr service tomorrow morning since @Natasha Orlova had such good results with it. If that doesn't work, I'll do the delete/re-add method following @CosmicCowboy's detailed steps - the screenshots and documentation advice seems crucial given what @Emma Wilson experienced with her SAI changing. University of Denver is actually a great school! My friend went there and loved it. Fingers crossed we can both get this sorted out quickly. I'll definitely update this thread once I try these solutions - it seems like there are a lot of us dealing with this same issue. Thanks for jumping into help brainstorm solutions too!

Just wanted to jump in as someone who went through this exact nightmare last year! My daughter had 2 out of 6 schools that never received her FAFSA despite being submitted correctly. After trying everything - calling FSA multiple times, waiting weeks, checking school codes - we finally had success with a combination approach. First, I used that Claimyr service @Natasha Orlova mentioned and it was honestly a game-changer. Got connected to an actual FSA agent in under 10 minutes who could see there was a transmission error on their end. They fixed one school immediately, but the other still had issues. For the stubborn school, we had to do the delete/re-add method but I followed @CosmicCowboy's documentation advice religiously - screenshots of everything, used Chrome browser, waited exactly 5 business days before following up. It worked perfectly and no SAI changes. The key thing I learned is that some schools have older systems that don't play nice with the new FAFSA platform, and it's not always obvious which ones will have problems. Don't let them make you feel like you did something wrong - this is a known system issue affecting thousands of families! @Paolo Longo and @Mateo Rodriguez - definitely try the Claimyr route first. Much less risky than deleting anything from your application!

This is exactly the kind of real-world experience I needed to hear! Thank you so much for sharing your success story @Sebastian Scott. It's really reassuring to know that the Claimyr + documentation approach worked for someone who went through the same thing. I love that you mentioned it's not our fault - I've been feeling like I must have messed something up somehow, but clearly this is a widespread system issue. I'm definitely going to start with Claimyr tomorrow morning and then have the delete/re-add method as my backup plan with all the screenshots ready to go. Really appreciate everyone in this thread sharing their experiences and solutions. This community has been more helpful than hours of phone calls with FSA!

As someone who just went through this exact situation with my twin daughters' FAFSAs, I can confirm this is frustratingly common this year. We had one school missing for each daughter (different schools, of course, because why make it simple?). What I learned from our experience: the issue often isn't on your end or even FSA's end - it's sometimes the school's FAFSA processing system that has compatibility issues with the new federal platform. Some schools are still running older database systems that don't sync properly. Here's what worked for us after trying everything else: 1. Used Claimyr to get through to an actual FSA agent quickly (seriously worth the small fee vs. hours on hold) 2. Had the agent check for transmission errors on the federal side first 3. When that didn't fix it, did the delete/re-add method but ONLY after taking screenshots of literally everything and confirming our other schools' data wouldn't be affected The whole process took about a week total, but both daughters' missing schools finally received their FAFSAs and we didn't lose any priority deadline consideration. Don't panic - this is fixable! Just document everything and be persistent. The new system has growing pains but there are workarounds.

Thank you @Carlos Mendoza for sharing such detailed experience with twins going through this! It's really helpful to hear that even when multiple schools are affected, the combination approach of Claimyr + delete/re-add can work. The point about school database compatibility issues makes so much sense - I bet that's exactly what's happening with State University since all my other schools received it fine. I'm feeling much more confident about tackling this now after reading everyone's success stories. Going to start with Claimyr first thing tomorrow and have all my screenshots ready as backup for the delete/re-add method if needed. Really appreciate this whole thread - you've all saved me from panic-spiraling over this! 🙏

I'm currently dealing with this EXACT same issue! My daughter's FAFSA was submitted back in early March and 4 out of 5 schools received it perfectly, but her top choice school (University of Michigan) shows no record of receiving it. We've been stuck in limbo for weeks now. Reading through this thread has been incredibly reassuring - I had no idea this was such a widespread problem with the new FAFSA system! I've been feeling like we somehow messed up the application, but it's clearly a technical issue on the backend. I'm definitely going to try the Claimyr service first thing Monday morning based on all the positive experiences shared here. The idea of getting connected to an actual FSA agent in minutes instead of hours on hold sounds amazing. If that doesn't resolve it, I'll follow the detailed delete/re-add documentation steps that @CosmicCowboy outlined. Thank you all so much for sharing your experiences and solutions - this community has been more helpful than multiple calls to the FSA helpline! Will definitely report back once I try these approaches.

@Mateo Gonzalez I'm so glad you found this thread helpful! University of Michigan is definitely a school worth fighting for. I've been following everyone's advice here and wanted to share that I actually just tried the Claimyr service this morning based on all the recommendations. Got connected to an FSA agent in about 6 minutes and they were able to identify a transmission error for my State University issue too! The agent said it should be resolved within 24-48 hours. Honestly, the small fee for Claimyr was totally worth avoiding another 2+ hour hold with the regular FSA line. Definitely try that first before doing any delete/re-add stuff. Keep us posted on how it goes with UMich - fingers crossed it's as straightforward as mine was! This whole thread has been such a lifesaver for all of us dealing with this nightmare. 🤞

I'm a high school counselor and I've been helping dozens of families navigate this exact issue this cycle. What you're experiencing is unfortunately very common with the new FAFSA system - we've had about 15% of our students report at least one school not receiving their FAFSA despite successful submission. A few additional tips based on what I've seen work: 1. Before trying any fixes, call State University's financial aid office and ask them to search for your FAFSA using your SSN instead of your name - sometimes it's in their system but filed incorrectly 2. If you do need to delete/re-add, do it on a weekday morning (Tuesday-Thursday work best) when system traffic is lighter 3. Keep a record of your original submission date - you can still reference that for priority deadline purposes even after re-adding The good news is that I've never seen a case where this couldn't eventually be resolved, and schools are generally understanding about these technical delays when it comes to priority deadlines. Don't lose sleep over this - you will get it sorted out!

Thank you so much for chiming in @Nalani Liu! As a counselor, your perspective is incredibly valuable and reassuring. The tip about asking State University to search by SSN instead of name is brilliant - I never would have thought of that but it makes perfect sense that it could be a filing error on their end rather than a transmission issue. I really appreciate you sharing the statistics too (15% of students experiencing this) - it helps knowing this isn't just a few isolated cases but a genuine system-wide problem. The timing advice for delete/re-add is also super helpful - Tuesday-Thursday mornings, got it! Most importantly, thank you for the reassurance about priority deadlines. That's been my biggest stress point through all of this. Knowing that schools understand these are technical delays and not student errors takes a huge weight off my shoulders. This whole community thread has been amazing for support and practical solutions! 🙏

I'm dealing with this exact same nightmare! My son submitted his FAFSA in early March and 3 out of 4 schools received it, but his dream school (Boston College) has no record of it whatsoever. We've been panicking because their priority deadline was March 1st and we thought we were all set. Reading through everyone's experiences here has been such a relief - I had no idea this was such a widespread issue with the new FAFSA system! We've spent hours on hold with FSA getting nowhere, so I'm definitely going to try the Claimyr service that multiple people have recommended. The idea of actually talking to someone who can see backend transmission errors sounds like exactly what we need. @Nalani Liu your tip about asking the school to search by SSN instead of name is genius - I'm going to call Boston College tomorrow and try that first before doing anything else. And knowing that 15% of students are experiencing this makes me feel so much less alone in this mess. Thank you all for sharing your solutions and success stories. This thread has given me hope that we can actually get this resolved! Will definitely update with how the SSN search and Claimyr approaches work out for us.

@Dmitri Volkov I'm so sorry you're dealing with this stress too, especially with Boston College being your son's dream school! The good news is that based on everyone's experiences here, this really does seem to be fixable even when it involves competitive schools with early priority deadlines. I'd definitely start with @Nalani Liu's suggestion about having BC search by SSN - that could be the quickest fix if it's just a filing error on their end. And if that doesn't work, the Claimyr service has gotten such consistently positive reviews from everyone here that it seems worth trying before doing any delete/re-add actions. The priority deadline concern is totally understandable, but it sounds like schools are being flexible about these technical issues since they're so widespread this year. Your son's original March submission date should still count for priority consideration even if there are backend technical problems. Hang in there - from everything I've read in this thread, persistence pays off and everyone has eventually gotten their missing schools sorted out! Definitely keep us posted on what works for you. We're all in this together! 🤞

I'm a parent going through this exact same situation with my daughter's FAFSA! She submitted in early March and 4 out of 5 schools got it, but her top choice Northwestern hasn't received it at all. Reading through this entire thread has been such a lifesaver - I had no idea this was affecting so many families! Based on everyone's experiences, I'm planning to: 1. First try @Nalani Liu's suggestion about asking Northwestern to search by SSN instead of name 2. If that doesn't work, use the Claimyr service that @Natasha Orlova, @Sebastian Scott, and others have had such success with 3. Keep the detailed delete/re-add method as my last resort following @CosmicCowboy's documentation steps The fact that @Nalani Liu mentioned 15% of students are experiencing this really helps put it in perspective - this isn't our fault, it's a genuine system issue. And knowing that schools are being understanding about priority deadlines due to these technical problems is such a relief. Thank you everyone for sharing your solutions and experiences. This community support has been more helpful than hours of frustrating phone calls with FSA! I'll definitely report back on what works for us.

@Savannah Glover I'm so glad you found this thread helpful too! Northwestern is an amazing school - definitely worth fighting for. Your step-by-step plan sounds perfect based on all the success stories shared here. I'm actually in a very similar situation (my top choice school missing while others received it fine) and reading everyone's experiences has been such a game-changer. It's incredible how this community has provided more practical solutions than the official FSA helpline! The SSN search tip from @Nalani Liu seems like such a smart first step since it could be the quickest fix. And if you do end up needing to use Claimyr, it sounds like it's been worth every penny for people who've tried it. Please keep us all posted on how it goes with Northwestern! With so many of us dealing with this same issue, your experience could help even more families who find this thread. Fingers crossed it's a simple fix and you get good news soon! 🤞

I'm dealing with this EXACT same issue right now! My daughter submitted her FAFSA on March 5th and 4 out of 5 schools received it perfectly, but UCLA (her dream school) shows absolutely no record of it. We've been going in circles for weeks and I was starting to panic about missing their priority deadline. This entire thread has been incredible - I had no idea so many families were experiencing this same problem with the new FAFSA system! Reading everyone's success stories has given me so much hope and a clear action plan. Based on all your experiences, I'm going to: 1. Call UCLA tomorrow and ask them to search by SSN instead of name (brilliant tip @Nalani Liu!) 2. Try the Claimyr service if that doesn't work - the consistent positive feedback here is really convincing 3. Have all my screenshots ready for the delete/re-add method as a last resort Thank you all SO much for sharing your solutions and supporting each other through this nightmare. This community has been more helpful than countless hours on hold with FSA! I'll definitely update everyone on what works for us. 🙏

@Malik Davis I'm so sorry you're dealing with this stress too, especially with UCLA being your daughter's dream school! But honestly, reading through this entire thread gives me so much confidence that you'll be able to get this resolved. Your action plan sounds perfect based on everyone's success stories here. The SSN search tip could be a quick win if it's just a filing error on UCLA's end, and the Claimyr service has gotten such consistently positive reviews that it seems like a really solid backup option. What's been most reassuring to me is hearing from @Nalani Liu that schools are understanding about these technical delays for priority deadlines, especially when 15% of students are experiencing this same issue. Your daughter's March 5th submission date should definitely still count! Please keep us all posted on how it goes - with so many families in similar situations finding this thread, your experience could really help others too. UCLA is such an amazing school and totally worth the fight. You've got this! 🤞

I'm a current college student who went through this exact nightmare last year! My FAFSA was missing from 2 out of 6 schools despite successful submission, and I remember feeling so stressed about it affecting my financial aid packages. Here's what I wish someone had told me at the time: this is NOT your fault and it's WAY more common than you think. The new FAFSA system has serious transmission issues with certain schools, especially those still using older database systems. My advice based on what actually worked: 1. Try calling State University and ask them to search by your SSN instead of your name - sometimes it gets misfiled 2. If that doesn't work, the Claimyr service mentioned here is legit - I used it and got connected to an actual FSA agent in under 10 minutes who could see backend transmission errors 3. Document EVERYTHING before doing any delete/re-add actions (screenshots of your SAI, school list, etc.) The most important thing: your original submission date still counts for priority deadlines even if there are technical transmission issues. Schools are being flexible this year because they know the system has problems. Don't panic - every single person I know who had this issue eventually got it resolved! You just need to be persistent and try the right approaches. This thread has amazing advice from people who've been through it successfully.
