What day does Washington ESD unemployment pay weekly benefits?
I just got approved for unemployment benefits and I'm trying to figure out what day of the week Washington ESD actually sends out payments. I filed my weekly claim on Sunday but haven't received anything yet. Is there a specific day they process payments or does it depend on when you file? I'm on direct deposit if that makes a difference.

Washington ESD typically processes payments on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. If you filed your weekly claim on Sunday, you should see the deposit by Wednesday or Thursday depending on your bank's processing time.

The payment schedule depends on when you submit your weekly claim. Washington ESD processes claims in batches, so if you file early in the week you might get paid sooner than someone who files later.

If you're having trouble getting through to Washington ESD to check on payment status, I discovered Claimyr recently. It's a service that helps you actually reach an ESD agent by phone - saved me hours of calling. Check out claimyr.com and they have a demo video at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ that shows how it works.

Also worth noting that Washington ESD doesn't pay for the first week you're unemployed - that's your waiting week. So if this is your very first claim, you won't get paid until your second weekly claim is processed.

Update for OP - you should see your payment tomorrow (Tuesday) morning if you filed Sunday. After this first one you'll know exactly when to expect it each week.

Been on unemployment twice and both times payments came on Wednesday like clockwork. Washington ESD is actually pretty reliable once you get into the routine.

•That's good to hear. I'm still new to all this so I wasn't sure what to expect.

One thing I learned is to always keep your direct deposit info updated. If your bank account changes and you forget to update it with Washington ESD, your payment gets delayed big time.

Ingrid Larsson
•Thanks for the tip! I'll make sure to remember that if I ever need to change banks.

If you're worried about payment timing, you can also check your payment history on the Washington ESD website. Shows all your past payments and when they were processed.

Sometimes if there's an issue with your claim, like if you didn't complete your job search log properly, it can delay the payment. Washington ESD will usually send you a message about it.

Ingrid Larsson
•I made sure to complete all the job search requirements. Hopefully that keeps things smooth.

I've found that Claimyr really helps when you need to talk to Washington ESD about payment issues or delays. Had a problem with my claim last month and they got me through to an agent within an hour instead of waiting on hold all day.

•How much does something like that cost? Seems like it could be worth it if it saves all that time.

•It's worth checking out their site - claimyr.com. The time saved is definitely worth it when you actually need to reach someone at Washington ESD.

Just remember that your first payment might take a little longer than usual while they verify everything. After that it should be regular timing.

•That makes sense. I won't panic if this first one takes an extra day or two then.

Been thinking about trying that Claimyr service mentioned earlier. Has anyone else used it for Washington ESD issues? The phone system is just impossible to get through to sometimes.

The debit card payments take longer than direct deposit in my experience. Direct deposit Wednesday, debit card Thursday usually.

If you ever need to change your payment method or bank info, do it right after you get paid. That way it has time to process before the next payment cycle.

Wednesday payments are pretty standard across most states, not just Washington. It's when most unemployment systems process their weekly batches.

Been waiting 4 weeks for my first payment and still nothing. Starting to wonder if something's wrong with my claim.

•If it's been 4 weeks, your claim might be in adjudication. You need to call Washington ESD to find out what's holding it up.

Remember that your payment is based on when you file your weekly claim, not when you became unemployed that week. So if you file late, everything shifts later.
