ESD phone system keeps hanging up - can't check if weekly claims were properly submitted

I'm about to lose my mind with this phone system! Been trying to reach ESD for DAYS now - calling at exactly 8am when they open and randomly throughout the day. Every single time I get the same automated message about 'high call volume' and then it just hangs up on me! Not even an option to wait! My real concern is that I've submitted my weekly claims but when I log into my account, they're not showing up anywhere. I triple-checked that I completed all the steps, got confirmation numbers and everything, but the system isn't displaying any record of them. Is there some secret backdoor number to actually speak with a human being? Or any other way to verify if my claims are actually in their system? My rent is due next week and I'm seriously stressing out about whether I'll get my benefits. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

The phone system is terrible right now. Two things you should try: 1. Send a message through your eServices account - click on the 'Contact Us' option and select 'Unemployment Claims Questions' as the category. Be specific about which weeks are missing from your claim history. 2. Double-check that you're looking in the right place for your claims. On the eServices dashboard, click on 'UI Claim' and then 'View My Claim History' - sometimes people look at the wrong section and panic unnecessarily. If you received confirmation numbers, that's generally a good sign that the claims went through, but the system can take 24-48 hours to update sometimes.

Thanks for responding! I did try the message system last week but haven't heard anything back. And I'm definitely looking in the right place - I've been on UI for 6 weeks now and know where to check. The strange thing is my previous weeks show up fine, it's just the last two that are missing completely. But I have screenshots of the confirmation pages thankfully!

I had literally the exact same problem last month! I submitted my weekly claims, got confirmation numbers, but they didn't show up in my claim history. After trying to call for DAYS with no luck, I finally used Claimyr to get through to an ESD representative (claimyr.com). It costs a little bit but totally worth it - they call ESD for you and connect you when they get through. They even have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 Turns out my claims had a technical glitch that needed to be fixed manually by a rep. Would've never known without actually talking to someone!

isnt that basically just paying to cut in line? seems kind of unfair to everyone else who's waiting??

It's not cutting the line - they just keep auto-dialing until they get through the busy signal, then you wait in the same queue as everyone else. The problem is most people can't even get INTO the queue because of the constant busy signals and hangups. I spent 3 days trying on my own before using it.

This is a very common issue right now. Some weekly claims are getting caught in what's called a 'pending issue' state where they're in the system but not visible to you on eServices. Here are the facts: 1. If you received a confirmation number, your claim IS in their system, even if you can't see it 2. ESD is experiencing database synchronization issues between their submission system and the claimant portal 3. These claims typically get processed correctly but may be delayed by 2-3 weeks 4. You should continue filing your weekly claims even if you don't see previous ones The most reliable way to check status is to speak with an agent directly. The technical team at ESD can see claims that aren't visible to you in your portal. Keep trying the phones early - Mondays are worst, Wednesdays and Thursdays tend to have slightly lower call volumes. The 8:05-8:15am window sometimes works better than exactly at 8:00 when everyone calls.

This is incredibly helpful, thank you! I'll keep filing and try calling on Thursday morning instead. It's such a relief to know the claims are probably still in their system despite not showing up on my end. Fingers crossed they process before rent is due!

This whole state unemployment system is BROKEN BY DESIGN!!! They don't answer phones on purpose - they're hoping you'll give up and go away so they don't have to pay you. I had to file a complaint with my state representative's office before anyone would help me. THREE MONTHS I waited!!! It's absolutely criminal how they treat people who are already struggling. Try contacting your local state rep's office - sometimes they can light a fire under ESD.

While I understand your frustration, it's not accurate to say the system is deliberately designed to deny benefits. They're understaffed and dealing with outdated technology. I've worked with many claimants who successfully receive their benefits without extraordinary measures. Filing weekly claims correctly and being persistent with contact attempts is usually sufficient.

When this happened to me, I went down to my local WorkSource office in person. They couldn't directly fix my claim, but they were able to check on the status and confirm my claims were in the system. They also helped me send a priority message to the claims center. Might be worth trying if you have a WorkSource near you!

That's a great idea! There's a WorkSource about 20 minutes from me. Do I need to make an appointment or can I just walk in? Did they have actual ESD people there or just WorkSource staff?

Most WorkSource offices prefer appointments now but some do take walk-ins. I'd call ahead. They have WorkSource staff but many locations have ESD staff on certain days of the week. When you call, ask which days ESD staff are on-site - that's who you want to talk to about UI claims specifically.

i had to call 67 times in one day before i got through. not exaggerating, i kept a tally. try calling at 10:15, thats when a lot of their morning appointments end and sometimes there's a small window where calls get through. good luck!!

UPDATE: I took several pieces of advice from this thread and wanted to report back what worked! I tried calling on Thursday at 10:20am like someone suggested, and still got the high call volume message. Then I went to my local WorkSource office, and they confirmed my claims WERE in the system despite not showing in my online portal! They said it's a known display issue affecting many accounts right now. The WorkSource staff helped me submit a priority message to claims center, and within 2 days my missing weeks appeared online! Payments are now processing. Thanks everyone for your help during my panic - special thanks to the person who suggested WorkSource!

So glad it worked out for you! WorkSource offices are seriously underutilized resources for UI issues.
