NY unemployment appeal submission error - website not working on any device

I'm trying to file an appeal for my NY unemployment claim but the website keeps giving me errors no matter what I do. I've tried submitting on my laptop, phone, and even my girlfriend's tablet - same problem every time. The page either freezes at 75% loaded or gives me a 'submission cannot be processed' message. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm really stressed because I only have 2 more days before my appeal deadline expires. Any suggestions on how to get past this technical glitch?

The NY appeal portal has been having issues since their system update last month. Try these steps: 1. Clear your browser cache and cookies completely 2. Use Chrome in incognito mode 3. Make sure you're not using autofill for any fields 4. Complete the form in one session without pausing If that doesn't work, you can fax your appeal to 518-457-9378 or mail it to the address on your determination notice. Just make sure to get proof of sending before your deadline.

Thanks for the tips! I tried incognito mode and clearing cache but still getting errors. The fax might be my best option at this point. Do you know if they'll accept it as long as it's faxed before midnight on the deadline day?

This is a widespread issue with the appeals portal right now. While they work on fixing it, you have three options to ensure your appeal is filed on time: 1. Call the NYSDOL appeals unit directly at 518-402-0030 2. Submit your appeal by fax to 518-457-9378 3. Mail your appeal letter via certified mail to preserve your filing date Make sure to include your full name, last 4 of SSN, claimant ID number, and the determination number you're appealing. Document everything and keep all receipts/confirmation numbers.

Thank you for the detailed information. I'll try calling tomorrow morning first thing. Do you know what hours their phone lines are open?

I had this exact same issue three weeks ago and wasted days trying to get the website to work. After trying everything, I found Claimyr (claimyr.com) which got me connected to an actual NYSDOL representative in under 15 minutes. They took my appeal over the phone and confirmed receipt. Saved me so much stress! They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE For appeals especially, talking to an actual person is way better than fighting with the broken website.

It's definitely legit. I was skeptical too, but it connected me when I couldn't get through for days. The rep I spoke with actually told me that they're having major technical issues with the appeals portal right now.

If your trying to appeal right away, better do the fax option for real. The website is always broken lately. I kept getting stuck at loading and FINALLY got through after like 9 tries but then got timed out before I could finish!!! So frustrating how they expect us to use a system that doesn't even work.

That's exactly what's happening to me! I get to the proof upload section and then it crashes. Did faxing work for you?

According to NYSDOL procedure, if you're experiencing technical issues with the online appeal system, you have three official alternatives: 1. Phone appeals: 518-402-0030 (8:30am-4:30pm) 2. Fax appeals: 518-457-9378 3. Mail appeals: NYC Appeals Board, PO Box 4597, Albany NY 12204 Your appeal will be considered timely if you can prove you attempted submission before the deadline. Take screenshots of the errors and include them with any alternate submission method. This protects your appeal rights even if the system fails.

This is super helpful - thank you! I'm going to take screenshots of all the errors I'm getting as proof I tried submitting before the deadline.

I tried Chrome, Firefox and Safari already - no luck with any of them. But I haven't tried Edge yet, I'll give that a shot!

Just a follow up - if you do end up faxing or mailing your appeal, make sure to include: 1. A cover letter explaining the technical issues you encountered 2. Screenshots showing the errors (if possible) 3. Your claim ID and determination number 4. A clear statement that you want to appeal 5. Your contact information And definitely get a fax confirmation or certified mail receipt as proof of timely filing.

Thank you so much for this checklist! I'm going to prepare all this documentation tonight just in case. I'll try calling first thing tomorrow, but have the fax ready as backup.

Just wanted to update - I used Claimyr this morning and got through to an agent who confirmed they're having major issues with the appeals portal. They're actually aware of the problem and said they're working on it, but no ETA for a fix. The agent was able to note in my file that I attempted to file online multiple times before the deadline.

That's good to know! I might try this service if I can't get through on the phone tomorrow. Did they give you any confirmation number or email after handling your appeal?

UPDATE: NYSDOL just announced they're extending all appeal deadlines by 14 days due to the technical issues with their portal. Check your email or message inbox on your NY.gov account for the official notification. This should give you some breathing room while they fix the system.

OMG THANK YOU!!! I just checked my inbox and got the notification about the extension! What a relief. Still going to try to submit ASAP but at least I'm not about to miss the deadline.
