When do FAFSA disclosure statements arrive? Haven't received mine yet

I submitted my FAFSA about 3 weeks ago and was wondering if anyone has received their disclosure statement yet? The studentaid.gov website says my application is 'processing' but nothing about when I'll get the disclosure statement. I thought we were supposed to get it within 2 weeks? This is my first time applying so I'm not sure if I'm missing something or if there are delays this year with the new FAFSA system. My SAI calculation is still pending too. Getting nervous because my college is asking for it by next month!

I got mine last week, but I submitted in early February. The disclosure statement should come 7-10 business days after your application is fully processed (not just submitted). With the new FAFSA system for 2025-2026, everything is taking longer than usual. Your SAI calculation has to be completed first, then they generate the disclosure statement. As long as your status shows 'processing' and not 'action required,' you should be fine.

Thanks for the info! Is there any way to check how far along in processing I am? The website is so vague.

Ugh, that's frustrating. Did you have to do anything special to get it to process faster?

nope just waited. my college financial aid office said they know about the delays and are being flexable with deadlines

The disclosure statement timeline depends on several factors: 1. Your application must be fully processed (not just submitted) 2. Your SAI calculation must be completed 3. Your data must pass all internal verification checks This year, the Department of Education has been experiencing significant delays with the new FAFSA system. The disclosure statement contains your finalized Student Aid Index (SAI) which determines your aid eligibility. If you're concerned about meeting your college's deadline, you should contact your school's financial aid office directly. Most institutions are aware of the FAFSA delays and have adjusted their internal deadlines accordingly. You might also want to check if your FAFSA needs any additional verification, as this can extend processing time by several weeks.

This is super helpful, thank you! I'll contact my school tomorrow to let them know about the delay.

I never even got a disclosure statement and still got my financial aid package from my school lol. I think sometimes they just send the info directly to the schools without sending you anything.

That's incorrect. Every FAFSA applicant receives a disclosure statement - it's a federal requirement. You might have missed it in your email or it went to spam. The disclosure statement contains your SAI (Student Aid Index), which is essential information for both you and your school.

I was in the same boat last month - waited forever for my disclosure statement! After 3 weeks of no updates, I tried calling FSA directly but kept getting disconnected or waiting for hours. Finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) and got through to an agent in about 10 minutes who told me my application needed additional verification that wasn't showing up on the website. They have a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/TbC8dZQWYNQ Once I submitted the extra verification documents, I got my disclosure statement within 3 days. Might be worth checking if you're stuck in verification limbo too.

I had no idea you could get stuck in verification without being notified! I'll definitely look into this. Did the agent tell you specifically what verification they needed?

Yes! In my case, there was a discrepancy between the income I reported and what the IRS data transfer showed. The website didn't flag it, but it was holding up my application. The agent walked me through exactly what documents to upload to resolve it.

THE ENTIRE FAFSA SYSTEM IS A DISASTER THIS YEAR!!! I submitted in January and didn't get my disclosure statement until MARCH!!!! By then my kid almost missed scholarship deadlines at two schools. The new "simplified" FAFSA is anything but simple. I've been doing these forms for 3 kids over 6 years and this is BY FAR the worst experience. Don't even get me started on the contributor issues we had with their system...

Same here!! And then when I finally got my disclosure statement the SAI was way higher than it should've been because they calculated our home equity wrong. Had to file an appeal with each school individually. What a nightmare.

To clarify, the new FAFSA no longer factors in home equity in the SAI calculation for 2025-2026. Your primary residence is not considered an asset for financial aid purposes. If you're seeing issues with your calculation, it's likely related to other assets or income reporting.

For those still waiting, here's a pro tip: Check your FAFSA communication preferences in your studentaid.gov profile. Make sure you've selected email notifications. Some people miss their disclosure statements because they're only checking the portal, but the statement might be sent to your email. Also, verify that your email address is correct and check your spam folder regularly.

Just checked and my email preference was set to 'paper mail only' somehow! Changed it to email - hopefully that helps. Thanks for the tip!

UPDATE: Just called my school's financial aid office and they said they're aware of the FAFSA delays and are extending their deadline! They also confirmed my application is in their system as pending. Such a relief! Thanks everyone for your help.

Great news! Most schools are being flexible this year because of the widespread delays. Keep an eye on your email and student aid account for any updates or requests for additional information.

That's such a relief to hear! I'm in a similar situation - submitted my FAFSA in early March and still waiting for my disclosure statement. The waiting is so stressful when you see all these college deadlines approaching. It's good to know that most schools are being understanding about the delays this year. I think I'll follow your lead and call my school's financial aid office tomorrow just to give them a heads up about the delay and see if they have any updates on their end. Thanks for sharing your update - it definitely helps ease some of the anxiety!

Absolutely! Calling the financial aid office is definitely the right move. I was so worried about missing deadlines, but it turns out most schools are dealing with this same issue across all their applicants. The financial aid counselor I spoke with said they've gotten hundreds of calls about FAFSA delays, so they're definitely aware and prepared to work with students. Good luck with your call tomorrow - I'm sure they'll be just as understanding with you!

I'm in the exact same situation! Submitted my FAFSA about 2.5 weeks ago and still showing "processing" with no disclosure statement yet. This is my first time too and I was getting really worried seeing all these deadlines coming up. Reading through everyone's experiences here is actually really reassuring - sounds like the delays are pretty normal this year with the new system. I'm definitely going to call my school's financial aid office this week to let them know about the delay and make sure I'm not missing anything on my end. Thanks to everyone who shared their timelines and tips, especially about checking email preferences and the possibility of hidden verification issues!
