USCIS payment error: Amex card blocked, need help getting USCIS to contact Amex directly
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with USCIS and American Express. I made a payment to USCIS using my Amex card, but there was some kind of mistake and now my card is blocked. Amex told me they need to hear directly from USCIS to clear up the charges. Has anyone dealt with something like this before? Any advice on how to get USCIS to contact Amex?

I found a way to solve USCIS payment issue with Amex, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cButPdUUPvk

Ugh, dealing with government agencies and credit card companies at the same time sounds like a nightmare. Have you tried explaining the situation to USCIS? Maybe they have a specific department that handles payment issues.

Yeah, it's been a real headache. I'm planning to call USCIS tomorrow, but I'm not sure which department to ask for. Hoping they can just contact Amex directly and sort this out.

Pro tip: Ask for the finance department or accounts receivable when you call. They usually handle payment-related stuff. Good luck, OP!

Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely ask for the finance department. Fingers crossed 🤞

I had a similar issue with USCIS last year, but it was with a different credit card company. Here's what worked for me: 1. Call USCIS and explain the situation clearly 2. Ask to speak with a supervisor if the first agent can't help 3. Get a reference number for your case 4. Request that they contact your credit card company directly 5. Follow up with both USCIS and Amex every few days It took about two weeks, but it eventually got resolved. Stay persistent!

Wow, thank you so much for the detailed advice! This is really helpful. I'll definitely follow these steps. Two weeks sounds long, but at least there's hope it'll get resolved.

have you tried contacting your local congressperson's office? They often have liaisons who can help with USCIS issues. might be worth a shot if you keep hitting dead ends

Man, this is why I always use a debit card for government payments. Less chance of this kinda mess. Hope you get it sorted out soon, OP!

Debit card? No way, dude. Credit cards have way better fraud protection. This situation sucks, but imagine if it was a debit card and they drained your bank account!

Fair point, I guess. Didn't think about that. Maybe I should rethink my strategy 🤔

I found a method to get someone on the phone at USCIS. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/eSz742AOvHc

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

I was skeptical at first too, but it really worked for me. Saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny imho.

$20 to skip the hold time? That's highway robbery! 😤

I get it, but think about how much your time is worth. For me, not spending hours on hold was totally worth it.

This is why the whole system is broken. Regular people shouldnt have to jump through hoops just to fix a simple billing error. USCIS needs to get there act together smh

Hey OP, just curious - how long has this been going on? And have you tried reaching out to USCIS through social media? Sometimes public pressure can get results.

It's been about a week now. I haven't tried social media yet - that's a good idea! I'll give it a shot if my next phone call doesn't work out. Thanks!
