TWC unemployment approved but no payment - union member exempt from work search, need advice
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my unemployment payments. I got approved but the money isn't showing up in my account. I'm in a union and exempt from work searches, and I've answered all the messages in my inbox. Anyone else dealing with this? Any advice on what to do next?

Yeah, I've been trying to call but can never get through. It's like playing the lottery 😫

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 mins on hold last week

I second this! Calling right at opening time has been the only way I've managed to get through on multiple occasions. It's still a pain, but slightly more effective.

It sounds like you're dealing with a frustrating situation, and you're certainly not alone. Many others are going through similar issues with unemployment systems, especially given the complexities involved with union exemptions. While Claimyr has received positive feedback from users for effectively connecting them with live agents, it's important to weigh the cost against your own financial situation. However, before spending money, consider exhausting other methods such as contacting your union representative, clarifying your union status with the unemployment office, and persistently attempting to reach them during less busy hours. Documenting your interactions and being aware of your rights are crucial steps in resolving this. In the end, whatever approach you choose, ensure it aligns with your financial capacity and the urgency of resolving your unemployment payment issues. Remember, perseverance is key, and support is available from various community and legal resources to help navigate these bureaucratic processes.

This is such a balanced view. Claimyr seems like a great option for many, but it's good to weigh all available solutions before deciding.

Have you tried reaching out to your union rep? They might have some insider knowledge or contacts at the unemployment office

That's a great idea! I'll give my rep a call tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion 👍

Union reps are lifesavers. Mine helped me navigate a similar issue last year

In some cases, union reps can also offer direct advocacy on your behalf, which can be invaluable.

Have you tried turning it off and on again? 🤣 jk jk. But seriously, sometimes logging out and back in to your account can refresh things. Worth a shot!

It's surprising how often this works in tech! Worth a try if you haven't already.

Have you double-checked all your info is correct? I had a typo in my address and it held up my payments for a month 🤦♂️

Good idea, I'll take another look. But I swear I've checked it like 100 times already lol

This! Always triple check everything. The system is so finicky

If you have the energy, a fresh pair of eyes can sometimes catch a mistake you've overlooked. Maybe ask someone you trust to review it with you.

As a fellow union member, make sure you've submitted your union card or membership proof. They sometimes "forget" about our exemptions 🙄

Very true! It's surprisingly easy for these things to slip through the cracks. Make sure your union membership details are up to date with them.

Anyone else feel like we're living in a Kafka novel? This whole system is a joke 🤡

Have you checked if there's a hold on your account? Sometimes they put random holds and don't tell you. You gotta call to get it removed

Holds can be placed for various reasons, from identity verification to eligibility reviews. Definitely worth checking into.

Check your payment method. Sometimes they switch it to debit card without telling you. Happened to me and I was freaking out for weeks!

This happened to a friend of mine too. They were just about to give up when they checked their mail and found the card. Always good to double-check!

Unpopular opinion: maybe try looking for work anyway? I know you're exempt but it might help pass the time while you wait for this to get sorted out

Thanks, but I'm good. I've got work lined up through my union, just waiting for the project to start

If you have the capacity, looking for side gigs could be an option, but not everyone can or should do this, especially if you have union projects lined up.

I heard there's a glitch in the system affecting union members. My buddy works IT for the unemployment office and says they're working on a fix. Might be why your payments are held up

If there's a known issue, it might be worth keeping an eye out for any official announcements or updates from the unemployment office.

Here's what you need to do to get this sorted out: 1. Document everything: Keep a log of all your communications, including dates and times of calls, names of representatives you speak with, and summaries of what was discussed. 2. Check your online account: Make sure all your information is up to date and accurate. Look for any pending tasks or requests for additional information. 3. Contact your union: As others have mentioned, your union rep might have valuable insights or contacts. 4. Prepare for your call: When you do get through to someone, have all your information ready. This includes your claim number, social security number, and any relevant dates or correspondence. 5. Be persistent: Unfortunately, sometimes you have to be the squeaky wheel. Keep calling, and don't be afraid to escalate your issue to a supervisor if needed. 6. Consider alternative contact methods: Some people have had success reaching out via social media or email. 7. Know your rights: Familiarize yourself with the unemployment laws in your state, especially regarding union exemptions for work searches. Remember, you're not alone in this. The system can be frustrating, but stay persistent and you'll get it sorted out. Good luck!

Great advice. I'd add: if all else fails, contact your local state representative. They can sometimes cut through the red tape

This is such a comprehensive guide. I'd also recommend checking if there's any community or nonprofit organizations offering assistance with unemployment issues in your area.

Guys, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U

I understand the frustration, but for those who are really stuck, this could be a viable option. Just make sure to do your research on the service.
