TurboTax Claimed Jan 14 Transmission But Records Show Jan 27 IRS Acceptance - 13 Day Discrepancy
Getting mixed signals here. TurboTax claims they transmitted my return on January 14th but the IRS website is telling me they just got it today (Jan 27th) and accepted it immediately. Anyone else seeing this kind of delay between transmission and acceptance? Should I be worried? When I check the TurboTax website under "View efile details" it shows: Federal Return Received by TurboTax: Friday, Jan 24, 6:15 PM EST Received by IRS: Monday, Jan 27, 10:27 AM EST Filing status changed to: Accepted Monday, Jan 27, 11:45 AM EST North Carolina Return Received by TurboTax: Friday, Jan 24, 6:15 PM EST Received by North Carolina: Monday, Jan 27, 11:45 AM EST Filing status changed to: Pending Monday, Jan 27, 11:45 AM EST So TurboTax is showing they received my return on January 24th, but didn't transmit it to the IRS until January 27th. Then the IRS accepted it about an hour later. But when I initially filed, TurboTax confirmed transmission on January 14th. I'm confused about this 13-day gap. Is this normal? Did TurboTax hold onto my return for nearly two weeks before actually sending it? My state return is still showing as "Pending" with North Carolina, which I guess is normal, but I'm concerned about the federal timeline discrepancy. Should I be worried about this delay or is it just a glitch in their system? Has anyone else experienced a situation where TurboTax gives you one transmission date but their records show something completely different?

Tax professional here - this is actually pretty normal for this time of year. The IRS doesn't start processing returns until late January, so even if TurboTax sent it earlier, the IRS system won't officially 'accept' it until processing season begins.

Hey guys just wanted to share something thats been super helpful - I've been using taxr.ai to track my refund and it's been a game changer. It costs $4.99 but it analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly what's happening with your return and when to expect your refund. Way better than playing detective with the WMR tool lol https://taxr.ai
