FTB threatening wage garnishment over health insurance docs I already sent. Help!

Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle. I just got an email saying they're gonna start garnishing my wages because of some health insurance issue with my taxes. The thing is, I definitely had insurance last year and I even mailed proof to the FTB. Has anyone else dealt with this? What should I do now?

I found a way to solve FTB wage garnishment issue, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9hpM8nFhZk

Ugh, that sucks. The FTB can be such a pain sometimes. Have you tried calling them to explain the situation?

Yeah, I've been trying to get through but the hold times are insane. It's so frustrating!

Pro tip: call right when they open. You might have better luck getting through.

I went through something similar last year. Here's what I did: 1. Gathered all my health insurance docs for the year in question 2. Made copies of everything 3. Wrote a letter explaining the situation 4. Sent it all via certified mail with return receipt 5. Followed up with phone calls (be persistent!) It took a few weeks, but they eventually sorted it out. Don't let them push you around!

Wow, thank you so much for the detailed advice! I'll definitely follow these steps. Did you have to deal with any wage garnishment in the meantime?

Luckily, no. I caught it early enough. But if they do start garnishing, make sure to request a hearing ASAP. You have rights!

This is solid advice. I'd add: keep a log of all your calls and interactions with the FTB. It can come in handy if things get messy.

Have you checked your FTB online account? Sometimes they update info there before sending notices.

I didn't even know they had online accounts! I'll check that out right away, thanks!

Guys, I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's the link: https://www.claimyr.com

Sounds kinda sketchy. Has anyone else tried this?

20 bucks? No thanks, I'll stick to my hold music playlist 🎵😂

I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

How does it actually work? Do they just keep redialing or what?

From what I understand, they use some kind of AI to navigate the phone tree and detect when a human picks up. Then it calls you. Pretty neat tech actually!

This happened to my cousin last month. Turns out it was a clerical error on FTB's end. Keep pushing and don't give up!

OP, whatever you do, DON'T ignore this. It'll only get worse if you do. Trust me, I learned the hard way 😭

Oh no, I'm sorry you had to go through that. I'm definitely taking this seriously!

Just a heads up, there was a glitch in the FTB system last month that caused a bunch of false flags for missing insurance. Might be worth mentioning when you get through to them.
