FTB only counting one PTE payment for my business - How to prove multiple payments were made?

Hey everyone, I'm having an issue with the FTB. They sent me a notice saying I owe money for my business, but I think it's a mistake. They're only counting one of the PTE payments we made, even though we made multiple. I've got proof of all the payments. Has anyone dealt with this before? What's the best way to get this cleared up?

I found a way to solve FTB payment discrepancy issues, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Zsp4TVN1Mk

Ugh, classic FTB. They're always messing up something. I had a similar issue last year. Here's what I did: 1. Gather all your payment records 2. Call them and explain the situation calmly 3. Ask them to review all the payments you've made 4. Request a written confirmation of the correction It took a few calls, but they eventually sorted it out. Good luck!

This is solid advice. I'd add: keep a log of every call you make, including date, time, and who you spoke with. It'll help if you need to escalate later.

Yep, documentation is key. I learned that the hard way 😅

Thanks for the tips! I'll definitely keep a log. Any idea how long this process usually takes?

In my experience, it can take anywhere from a few weeks to a couple months. Depends on how backed up they are and how complex your case is. Just keep following up!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/0KwvDlViV6Q

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work? 🤔

Yeah, it does! I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of hold time. Totally worth the 20 bucks imo.

Is it legal tho? Seems kinda sketchy...

Totally legal! It's just a service that waits on hold for you. Nothing shady about it.

FTB's system is a joke. I swear they're still using computers from the 80s or something. Good luck getting this sorted, OP. You're gonna need it. 🙄

I work as an accountant and deal with FTB issues all the time. Here's a detailed breakdown of what you should do: 1. Organize Your Evidence: - Compile all payment receipts - Bank statements showing the transfers - Any correspondence with FTB about these payments 2. Draft a Clear Letter: - Explain the discrepancy - List all payments made with dates and amounts - Request a full review of your account 3. Contact FTB: - Call their business line: 800-852-5711 - Mail your letter and copies (not originals) of your evidence to: Franchise Tax Board PO Box 942857 Sacramento, CA 94257-0500 4. Follow Up: - If no response in 30 days, call again - Request a taxpayer advocate if you're not making progress 5. Consider Professional Help: - If it's a large amount or complex issue, consider hiring a tax attorney Remember, stay patient and persistent. FTB can be slow, but they usually get it right eventually. Good luck!

Quick question - how long does the taxpayer advocate process usually take?

It can vary, but typically it takes about 4-6 weeks to get assigned an advocate, and then resolution can take another 4-8 weeks depending on the complexity of your case.

Have you checked your FTB online account? Sometimes they have more detailed info there that might help explain the discrepancy.
