FTB Suspended Status: Filed Returns, No Response - How to Revive Business?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my company's status. It's currently 'Suspended - FTB' and I'm not sure what to do. We've already filed our state tax returns for the past few years and faxed them to the FTB, but we haven't heard anything back. It's been a few weeks now. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to get our business status reactivated?

Ugh, dealing with the FTB is such a pain. I've been there before. Have you tried calling them directly? Sometimes that's the only way to get a response.

I've tried calling, but I can never get through. It's so frustrating! 😤

Pro tip: call right when they open. You might have better luck getting someone on the line.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/0KwvDlViV6Q

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work?

Yeah, it actually does! I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of hold time.

$20 seems steep just to make a phone call. Is it worth it?

For me, it was totally worth it. Time is money, and this saved me a ton of time and frustration.

Here's what you need to do to revive your business status: 1. Confirm receipt of your faxed returns 2. Ask about any outstanding tax liabilities 3. Request a Statement of Account 4. File any missing forms or returns 5. Pay any outstanding balances 6. Request a 'Certificate of Revivor' It's a process, but stay persistent! Good luck!

Quick question - did you use certified mail when you sent your returns? It's always good to have proof of delivery when dealing with government agencies.

I faxed them actually. But you're right, I should've used certified mail. Lesson learned for next time!

Have you checked the FTB website? Sometimes they update the status there before sending any official communication.

Preach! 🙌 It's like they want small businesses to fail

Careful with that attitude. Gotta play by the rules, even if they suck sometimes.
