Trouble opening new account - endless hold times. Any tips?

Hey everyone, I've been trying to open an account but I'm running into some issues. Has anyone else had trouble with this recently? I've been on hold forever and can't seem to get through to anyone. Any tips or advice would be really appreciated!

Ugh, I feel your pain! I went through the same thing last month. It's like they don't want us to open accounts or something. 🙄 Have you tried going to a branch in person? That's what finally worked for me after hours on hold.

Thanks for the suggestion! I hadn't thought of that. How long did you have to wait at the branch?

It wasn't too bad actually. I went early in the morning and only had to wait about 30 minutes. Way better than being on hold for hours!

Just a heads up, some branches are appointment only now. Might wanna check online or call ahead before you go.

I found a way to get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Anyone else tried it?

I was skeptical at first too, but it really did work for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken. 🤦‍♂️

I get it, but for me, time is money. I'd rather pay $20 than waste half a day on hold.

Have you tried their online account opening process? I did mine completely online last week and it was surprisingly smooth. Might be worth a shot before you spend hours on the phone.

Seriously tho, have you considered a credit union instead? Way less hassle in my experience.

As someone who works in banking (not for the company you're dealing with), here's some advice: 1. Try early morning calls, right when they open. Less wait time. 2. Have all your documents ready - ID, proof of address, initial deposit info, etc. 3. Be patient with the rep - we're often understaffed and overworked. 4. If online opening is available, it's usually faster. 5. Consider setting up a preliminary account online, then calling to finalize details. 6. If you're having persistent issues, ask to speak with a branch manager or account specialist. 7. Keep a record of all your attempts and who you've spoken with. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Anyone else think its crazy we gotta jump through so many hoops just to give a bank our money? 🤔 The whole system needs an overhaul if you ask me.

Preach! 🙌 It's like they forget we're the customers sometimes.

Eh, it's annoying but I get why they have to be careful. Money laundering and fraud are real issues.

I guess, but there's gotta be a better way that doesn't make honest folks suffer.
