SDI payment delayed since March - need tips to expedite processing

I've been waiting for my SDI payment since March. My doctor finally signed the disability form, but I couldn't see a doctor until August due to an insurance change. Now I'm trying to get SDI to expedite my payment. Has anyone had success getting their payment processed faster? Any tips for talking to the agents?

Ugh, I feel your pain. I was in the same boat last year. Here's what worked for me: 1. Be persistent. Call every day if you have to. 2. Ask to speak with a supervisor if the agent can't help. 3. Emphasize any financial hardship you're facing. 4. Have all your paperwork ready when you call. 5. Be polite but firm. Good luck! The system is so broken, but don't give up!

This is solid advice 💯 I'd add: keep a log of every call, including date, time, and who you spoke with.

Calling everyday seems excessive. Dont they have a note system? Wouldnt that just clog up the lines for everyone else?

@profile 3 You'd think so, but in my experience, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. It sucks, but it's how the system works rn 🤷‍♂️

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20 to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken 🤮

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. After weeks of trying, I got through in like an hour. Worth every penny imo

Can you explain more about how it works? Do they just keep calling until they get through?

@profile 7 Yeah, basically. They have some tech that navigates the phone tree and waits on hold. When a real person picks up, it calls your phone. Pretty clever tbh

have you tried faxing your documents? sometimes that can speed things up. also, check your online account to make sure they have everything they need.

Bruh, SDI is a joke. I've been waiting since January. At this point, I'm considering hiring a lawyer. Anyone gone that route?

Lawyers are expensive af tho. Might be worth it if you're owed a lot, but idk man...

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 20 minutes on hold last week!

What time do they open? Asking for a friend 👀

Have you tried reaching out to your local state representative? They sometimes have liaisons who can help push things through faster.

I hadn't thought of that! How would I go about contacting them?

Just google your district and 'state representative'. Most have contact forms on their websites. Explain your situation and ask if they can help expedite your claim. Good luck!
